Sox – a community kitten shortly after being trapped in August 2019. An hour later she was transported by Animal Control to the Wake County Animal Center where was spayed, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and ID chipped. She was returned and released 2 or 3 days later. She was feral at the time, but is now socialized to me. Sox is the most playful kitty in the family.
So far, I’ve trapped 8 kitties using a 2 door Havahart trap, and caught one older adult male sleeping in a cardboard box by putting a blanket over it.
August 2019. TNVR. After I trapped 2 feral kitties at the same time in a 2-door Havahart trap, Wake County Animal Control Officer transferred them to transport cages and brought them to Wake County Animal Center where they were spayed / neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and ID chipped. A few days later, they were returned to my yard and released. Now they are healthy, happy, and thriving free-range kitties as part of their community cats family. As of March 2020, Dutch continues to stay about 3 feet away from me, while Princess is very comfortable with me, very sweet and affectionate.
I have just one more left to trap. Duke is the old man of the group and has been super elusive. I’m going to borrow a drop trap, get him accustomed to it and then trap him when the others have already finished eating.
